Keisha Tuner

Performer, choreographer, educator, and root woman, Keisha Turner (she/her), hails from Chicago and currently resides in Huichin, on unceded Lisjan territory, known as Oakland, CA. Her artistic practice activates ancient Afro-diasporic cultural wisdom and reimagines them in a contemporary context to conjure radical liberation for the lives of Black people, womxn, and the planet. Her current research centers on reparations, labor, Black liberation, and the collective recovery from white supremacist, capitalist, cis-hetero-patriarchy and ecocide. Keisha has also been a proud collaborator with House/Full of Blackwomen/Deep Waters Dance Theater, Afro Urban Society, and many others. Additionally, she is a certified yoga instructor committed to offering body-positive, life-affirming classes that prioritize self-awareness and self- and communal care while recognizing the body as a site of learning and liberation. Her creative enterprise, EarthChild, is a collection of love-offerings consisting of performance, yoga classes, and body care products designed to celebrate, heal, and center those at the margins.
